RACCOON INVASION ON MY FACE: Undereye Circles

Dec 05, 2011 Posted by Corrie Shenigo

I woke up this morning feeling spry and ready-to-rumble. I just knew it was going to be a banner day where everyone that I encounter would look at me and instantly say my favorite word “Yes” to each and every one of my completely reasonable demands (World Domination. Please and Thank You.) I sprung out of bed, pirouetted down the hall and danced into the bathroom to brush my fangs to their dazzling best.

(*screech!) What the hell. Seriously. What the hell. Why do the bags and dark circles under my eyes look like I’ve been logging time in the realm of zombie? How can I wake up anticipating world domination when the look on my mug would strike terror into the hearts of small children? Wait... maybe I'm on to something here...

But I digress. Here’s the problem. I’ve always had dark circles under my eyes… not as dark as some, but even as a child there were times when my face might have been mistaken for a pre-pubescent raccoon. And as the years slog on… it’s only gotten worse. I mean, seriously, I didn’t look this bad when I went to bed last night, did I? What the hell happened?

Commissioner Gordon at the Today Show must have once again heard my Bat-signal (That’s a Batman reference, for those of you mortals unfamiliar with amazing super-hero powers.) because lo-and-behold, those party people recently aired a segment where that maven of make-up magic, Bobbi Brown takes calls from viewers and tells them exactly what to do in dire cases like my own. So let’s make a pit-stop at education station for a few under-eye pointer from someone who surely knows what to do Miss Bobbi (Batman) Brown.

And just what does the illustrious beauty-mogul suggest to go from zombie to za-za-zoom? Well… two things: concealer (Brown claims she has NEVER met a woman who can’t benefit from a little concealer) and corrector. Let’s call it C-squared.

First the later (since that’s applied first): A good corrector should have a slight pink to orange hue, which off-sets the punch-drunk coloring of your dark circle. Apply lightly to the affected area and corrector can… er… correct your unruly under-eye circles.`

Next, a light application of under-eye concealer will help cover the dark-circle drama – making you look less haggard and more sparkly. And isn’t feeling and looking sparkly what the season is all about? (Fa-la-la.)

While you’re at it, be sure you’re getting enough zzz’s, drinking plenty of water and moisturizing like it’s your job – ‘cause gosh-darn it, it is. Since I’m such a fan of repeating myself, I’ll say it again… Teamine Eye Complex is hands down my favorite under-eye moisturizer - 'cause it's amazing. 'Nuff said. Help your facial real estate help itself. Cause nothing will take you back to zombie faster than corrector and concealer caked on top of a dried out under-eye area. So I guess that's M + C squared. But you can do that, can't you?

World domination? YES! Thank you.
